The Piano Finders Society History Project is about the people, places and provenances that are connected to each other through a piano that has been inspected, appraised, had provenance research done for, rebuilt, repaired or brokered by Piano Finders. Piano Finders is a California General Partnership that was co-founded by Karen Earle Lile and Kendall Ross Bean in 1982 located in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, United States of America.

This website features a small selection of spotlights from the Piano Finders Archives, which consist of paper and digital records of the provenances and inspection reports of over 3,500 pianos and over 20,000 photos. Most of these records are private, but, some owners of pianos and places are giving their permission for this information to be shared for the benefit of society history and the public.
