CONNECT TO A PIANO, MUSIC, DANCE AND ART

Welcome to The Piano Finders Society History Project

For the Museums

We created this space for museums, historians, and those who are connected to piano provenances to use as a resource. The contents gathered reveal the history of people, places and organizations connected to piano provenances in specific decades and around specific events.

For the owners of the millions of pianos in homes and venues, we share a pattern of record keeping based on the Piano Finders Archives, which contain 3,500 pianos that have been inspected, appraised, repaired, brokered or had their provenance authenticated by Piano Finders. We hope to reveal the interconnections between pianos, music, art, dance, people, places and the society that binds us together. This project starts with piano provenance and expands outward.

All of Us

The reason that the piano is often within the center of society, is because of all the people and organizations that have invested in creating with, for and around the piano. We acknowledge the skill and devotion of the artisans who create restore and maintain pianos. But, it is often the music, dance and art that gives meaning and inspires us to listen, look and learn more. People would not have been so invested in owning, restoring and maintaining pianos for the past 320+ years if it were not for those who contributed meaning that engages them and is worth sharing with others.
