Julia Rowe was born in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. She received her ballet training at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and then San Francisco Ballet School.  She was part of the Oregon Ballet Theatre until she joined the San Francisco Ballet in 2016.  She was promoted to soloist in 2016 at the San Francisco Ballet.


During the pandemic, when the SF Ballet and venues were closed around the world, Julia Rowe and her husband Jonah Kim, created a series of videos that received International attention on YouTube with Kim playing the cello and Rowe dancing solos she had choreographed.


Julia Rowe joined the Break Free on Wings of Music Project in 2021 and co-choreographed and performed with Tiit Helimets in the “Wings of Music” Ballet Film that was premiered at the Treasure Island Museum as part of the Treasure Island World’s Fair Anniversary Celebrations 1939-2022 on April 16, 2022.
